EuchreMyDay! is in the iPhone App Store!
EuchreMyDay! will create a customized seating chart within seconds. The chart will be produced for the number of players that show up and for the number of games planned. The seating chart is optimized to maximize the number of different partners and opponents.
EuchreMyDay! allows organizers to create a list of participants. The seating chart and final results can be shared with players in 3 ways:
1. email
2. text message
3. AirDrop
EuchreMyDay! will also keep track of player scores. At the end of the tournament, final results will be produced that can be emailed, texted, AirDropped, or printed.
1. Plan (generate optimized seating chart and player instructions)
2. Communicate (via email, text or AirDrop)
3. Score
iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon macOS11.0. Best used with an iPhone in portrait.
EuchreMyDay! uses random sampling to generate a seating chart. EuchreMyDay! will run a number of trials to generate a more balanced seating chart.
The time it takes depends on the number of players, the number of games, and the number of trial cases to be run. But in most cases, it will be seconds. For example, 24 players, 8 games and 100 trials will take about 3.6 seconds on an iPhone X (even less time on newer phones).
1. email
2. text message
3. AirDrop
4. printed copies (but who carries a printer with them)
EuchreMyDay! will store player email addresses and phone numbers for sending out seating charts and final scores. The organizer could also type the email addresses and phone numbers directly (but seriously, who wants to do that).
Scores are entered for both teams at every table and for every game. EuchreMyDay! knows the seating chart so you don't have to worry about individual player scores. When playing stops, EuchreMyDay! tallies up everyone's score and the results can be sent to all of the players.
It's easy to generate a seating chart with EuchreMyDay!. Enter:
(1) the number of players,
(2) the number of games,
(3) the number of trial charts generated.
EuchreMyDay! will evaluate seating charts and give a score. But the easiest way to evaluate a seating chart is to look at the partner chart and the team-player chart (more information below). They will visually show how well the app matched up players with other players.
EuchreMyDay! is designed to generate seating charts. But there is an option to import one so that you can use other features of EuchreMyDay!.
Two generators are provided. The first is setup for up to 24 players and up to 16 games. Expert users can access the generator for up to 99 players and 99 games (but we can't imagine how you could have a tournament like that).
Yes. They are random and no two will be the same. They are "fair". Everyone has an equal chance. No need to randomize players. Any order will do.
EuchreMyDay! can handle 1, 2 or 3 players that sit out every game. Scores can be added if that's how you want to handle scoring.
EuchreMyDay! creates random seating charts but then evaluates how well players are distributed. It will pick the chart that best matches players with as many partners as possible, and best matches players with as many opponents as possible.
The Partner Chart is very useful for visually determining the efficacy of a seating chart. For a tournament with 12 players and 11 games, it is possible to design a seating chart so that every player is a partner with every other player. But it's rare and difficult to generate.
Let's review what this chart tells us. First, every row is a player. Going across the table, every column is a player (there's no room for a label). The values in the table are how many times each player is a partner with the other players. The black ⬛️ squares are the same player-player possibilities (a player can't be their own partner, so it is meaningless and ignored). The red 🟥 squares show that player X and player Y will never play as partners. The 1️⃣, 2️⃣, 3️⃣ etc. squares show the number of times two players will be partners.
The chart to the left was generated after 1 trial. It shows:
Seating charts improve with more trials. In the case to the left, with fewer than 1000 trials, a perfect Partner Chart was found.
Every player will be a partner with every other player exactly once.
It's similar to the Partner Chart. Every row is a player. Going across the table, every column is a player. The values in the table are how many times a player plays at the same table with every other player, either as a partner or opponent. The 🟥 squares show that those 2 players will never play at the same table.
The chart to the left was generated after 1 trial. It shows:
This is the Team-Player Chart after 1000 Trials. It's showing the number of times that two players are at the same table.
The chart to the left shows that every player will be at the same table with every other player at least once.
The number varies from 1 to 6, with an average around 3.
Yes and No. The computer time needed goes as the number of players squared times the number of games times the number of trials. For a simpler seating chart (8 players, 7 games), the perfect Team-Player chart was found at trial 321,637. That would take about 9 minutes on an iPhoneX. So while possible, it's not practical with current technology.
Scores are entered for each table and every game. There's a spinner for the game number, and a spinner for the table number. Players are listed below the spinners. Sliders determine the score. The maximum score can be set in Settings (typically 10 or 13).
Final scores will be automatically tallied using the seating chart and table/game scores. If scores can be entered right after each game, then the final results can be obtained within a minute or two after the end of play because only the last game will need to be entered. The results can be emailed, texted or AirDrop'd.
You don't have to create one to use EuchreMyDay!.
Name, email address and phone number.
A simple "switch" will allow the organizer to include or exclude participants.
An import function exists to take an external list of participants. The list can be typed, or more likely, extracted from a spreadsheet, database or other program or document.
No. We didn't want all of the extra information so EuchreMyDay! will not access a user's contact list.
Just about anything, including emojis. But EuchreMyDay! does not have a first name, last name format. If you want the list to be organized by last name, you have to enter the last name first (e.g., Mouse Mickey). Also, if you try to print the participant names, some printers may not recognize the emojis. So it's best to stick to alphanumeric names.
EuchreMyDay! can save seating charts, participant lists and tournament results to your iPhone or iPad. Data is stored in a special folder (the application's data folder). Files can be read by EuchreMyDay!, but they are not directly editable by a user because they are in a special format.
Files are typically a few kB. With iPhone storage measured in GB's, there is no need to worry about file storage. However, any or all files can be deleted by the user.
EuchreMyDay! is performing a lot of calculations in order to create a seating chart. The time it takes goes roughly as the number of players squared, times the number of games, times the number of trials. The app will estimate the time that a seating chart calculation will take. The timer can be calibrated to your device so that it provides more accurate time estimates.
There are a dozen app settings (stored in the iPhone's Settings App under EuchreMyDay!)
Apple policy is that an app can't automatically send out emails and texts. The app can create an email message and/or a text message, but the user has to make the final decision on sending it.
EuchreMyDay! also optimizes table assignments and payer leads.
Please reach us at EuchreMyDay@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
It's free until August 31, 2023. Then $4.99 (USD)
I wrote the app because I played in a friendly tournament and was partner with some players 2 or 3 times and I never partnered with 15 people. And I never played at the same table with over a dozen people. So I wrote an app to prevent that from happening again!
Nope. I doubt if I'll ever get enough revenue to cover my Apple developer fees and website costs. And I'll never get compensated for the number of hours I put in.
Maybe...if you use it and give it glowing reviews.
Absolutely nothing!
www.EuchreMyDay.com will redirect you to a page on the Oilfield Nuclear website.
Support is not 24/7. But a reply will usually be given within 1 day. But check the app Instructions. They cover a lot of topics.
There's a screen in the app for sending in requests, but you can send emails directly to EuchreMyDay@gmail.com (note, the "!" punctuation mark is not in the email address).
No.
AirDrop works with iPhones, iPads and mac's but AirDrop'ing to other devices has not been tested.
It's not. EuchreMyDay! uses what some people call "variance reduction" to reach a perfect solution much faster. Let's just call it an optimized algorithm. But seating charts are still "fair", and everyone has an equal chance.
No. The seating charts are totally random. So players don't need to be randomly selected. Alphabetical or any order will do.
